The Dons - the Birth of a Brotherhood at Sam Houston State:
In the 1954-55 era, a group of male students at Sam Houston State Teachers College, Huntsville, Texas, initiated action to form a new social club on campus. Most of these men routinely ate at a boarding house near the SW corner campus entrance - sort of down the hill from the old library….
Alpha Tau Omega. During the spring semester of 1960, the Dons were officially christened as the Zeta Mu Chapter of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity (ATO) … . . and the tradition continued.
